Just thought i would start a thread all about us :)

More about the race team, results and upcoming events we will be attending.

We currently have a few cars to choose from on race day (please race day come soon!!)

Most of you would already know TUBBY, glenns green LH torana,
it has a 400cui SBC with two custom baker carbys and a 6/71 to date best time is a 9.6 at Benaraby.
You have to remember that this car has come straight from the show seen including two years in a row elite hall at Summernats!, with no major changes. It still has its full leather interior etc, we are thinking that she may have a bit more go in her but for now it is still just fun!

We also have the boys Black LJ torana, this also has a 400cui SBC without the blower!
This is called our workshop burnout bomb, but it has to date put down a best time 10.8, so now the boys have to learn how to drive it to keep it in the super street bracket!..

We also have Petes VL, this is yet to hit the track after a major rebuild, should be interesting to see what it does, she is all set up to run 9's so fingers crossed!! (then i believe it will be for sale?)

We also have a new addition to our Junior Dragster team, Jamie & Katie will be racing for RDP this year and many more to come!
Jamie has had a lot of success locally in his JD which has just had a new paint job and engine upgrade.
This will be Katies first year, however if her times testing in Jamies car are anything to go buy she should be in with a shot, and we all know girls have a better reaction time to the guys :)

We also have the supercharged VE SS and the FG XR6T, the VE will be making an apperance again at the track soon, then she will be retired to everyday driving the same as my shopping trolley (the FG!)

That is all we have........for now :)

I will post up events we will be attending and results when we get back from each meet!

Cheers to fine weather and good racing!

Carley

Carley

Yes have found time to sit and give a run down on the VL......It has a little history, I have been building the car for the past 4 years, started as a humble uni students country tourer, then I got my hands on it.

The first build was satisfying, with a sunstate titles entry here in Mackay in 2008, the car ran 10.24 @ 132mph in street trim.

In October of the same year, a mishap with the Nitrous Pill allocation saw the need for a complete makeover........

Total colour change, complete strip of all unneeded items, basically everything and with the plan of a 9.... sec challenge the car is as it stands today.....waiting for the wet weather to fall away, so we can go racing......

The revised car is as follows

RB30 Complete

Maule Forged Pistons
Argo Rods
Completely Ported head inc the largest stainless exhaust and inlet valves that will fit.
Crow cams Valve springs and 9sec grind cam package
Oil restrictors inserted in head
Cometic head gasket
ARP Bolts used throughout entire engine
Oil squirter system under each piston
10 Litre fabricated sump
Engine mounts converted to solid mount.
Stainless high mount exhaust manifold
GT-51R Garrett Turbo, water and oil cooled
4" Dump pipe HPC Coated off turbo
Rajab Bros Intake manifold
XF Falcon Throttle body
6AL Ignitioin plus MSD monster coil

All under bonnet components catch cans rocker cover powder coated, easy to clean.

There are four oil drain lines from rocker cover to catch can, can returns direct to sump, seperate to turbo

Fuel system is a 57 litre alloy tank in boot, direct feed to a pair of bosch fuel pumps to a rising rate regulator

Transmission is C4 with trans brake and forward shift pattern module, built for 1000HP.
One piece tailshaft, with Strange 1200HP Yokes at each end.
9" Diff with Strange yoke, bearing support front housing, full spool, 35 spline axles, commodore pattern

Inside contains,
6 Point roll cage, plus extra bars and fixed side intrusion bars
full sheet metal dash containing Stewart Warner 2 5/8 guages
Oil pressure, Water temp, Boost, Amps, Trans temp, Fuel pressure
5" Tacho and shift light with oil pressure warning light are centre of top dash mounted
Innovate Data Logger Mounted for driver acces
RCI one piece drivers seat
3" RCI 5 point harness
180 MPH chute mounted at rear.
Wheels are Weld Prostars, 15" x 4" and 15" x 10" with 7 1/2" back space on rear rims
Front and Rear Discs.
Rear is Mini tubbed

The ecu is Wolf V500, this controls all of the tuning and also activates the Nitrous on/off as programmed
The nitrous is a 50HP shot giving 20lb Boost in a very short spool up time, nitrous will shut off at 20lb boost.
Also fitted is a 3 litre Oil accumalator in boot to prevent lack of oil if needed.

The car is tuned to C16 fuel

I am sure I have forgotten some nitty grity's, but in a nut shell build cost $50,000.00 over the past 4 years or so.

Well, all we need now is some fine weather, and some luck should see the result we are looking for.
And Carley you are right, once the desired time slip is achieved, I will be looking to put the VL up as a complete car for sale.

Thanks for your interest

Regards, FastVL

Some nice goodies there Pete, thanks for the write-up.

I had a VL with a 304 in it as my first car, still have a soft spot for them :)

Wow what a week or two...

We had some mixed results from the Winters The Juniors qualified really well, Katie got the top Qualifier for the weekend with a 8.603 Unfortunatly Jamies car was having a few technical issues so he didnt qualify as well as he normally does.
Pete and Tubby qualified well in the middle of the field, with a best ET of 9.85.

First round of Racing:

Juniors were up first, Katie lined up against a young boy that dialled in a 13+ so she waited patiently for him to leave, got her best reaction time but broke out with a 8.42... to fast and we had to put it away for the weekend!!
Jamie made it through to the second round, but motor issues were still plaguing him his quickest time was a 12 second pass??
Unfortunatly he was knocked out in the second round!

Pete and Tubby were up next, we dialled in an 9.82 as his quickest to date was the 9.85 so we thought it would be ok... did an 9.82 and broke out so racing was all over for us by the Friday night!

But wow what a weekend, the track was amazing, lots of shoes being lost by the pretty ladys that were guiding some teams back which was quite funny to see! It is defiantly a different workd of racing down there, now we wait until Nostalgias to see what the Torana will do on the surface at Palmyra.. will it lift the front wheels nearly a metre of the ground???

I have added a couple of photos below, but if you want to check them all out got to:
